The Sticker Maker from Crayola is a simple but oddly satisfying idea. Its basically a light box into which slides of various designs can be inserted, then traced on to sticky-backed paper to make your own stickers. It measures approximately 9 inches long, 7 inches wide, and 3.5 inches high, and is made from strong yellow and purple plastic. A hatch at the back opens to reveal a receptacle to insert either the plain or sticky-backed paper reels that are included. The paper is fed either by turning the manual reels at the side of the machine or by pressing the Auto Wind button. On top of the machine is a screen measuring approximately 4 inches square. Insert one of the included design slides underneath this and press the light box On switch to illuminate it from beneath. Pull either of the included paper reels or sticky-backed sheets over the top of the screen and then trace away to your hearts content using your favorite felt-tipped pens or crayons (not included). The finished design can be torn off from the Paper Cut slot at the bottom.
The Sticker Maker is ideal for building confidence in the artistically inept, as the ability to trace pictures is all thats needed. The tracing sheet designs are mainly animals/insects, but there are also designs suitable for special occasions such as birthday celebrations. It takes three AA batteries which are not included, although a spare bulb for the light box is. The paper reels are likely to be used up very quickly--replacements are available directly from the manufacturer. Suitable for ages 3 and up. --Alison Drury
