Editorial Review Here's another in the popular series of themed role-playing party mystery games, this one set in eighth-century China. But a Mandarin-English dictionary isn't needed for How to Host a Murder, Episode 6: Hoo Hung Wu; in fact, the only required reading before plotting the perfect murder-party is the host guide. Not only does it contain all instructions for orchestrating the mystery evening, but it also comes with menu suggestions, should you decide to serve dinner. The guide covers everything from preparing miso soup to reminding the host to phone all guests before sending out invitations (it's imperative that all guests show up--one of you is the murderer!). The complete kit includes nametags, player manuals for all eight roles (which contain clues to conceal from, and reveal to, other characters during each round), invitations and envelopes, round-by-round instructions, and an audio tape that's played during the introductory cocktail hour. Unfortunately, this tape is full of embarrassing, clichéd mispronunciations of words--"retter" for "letter" and "roughry for "roughly"--and the actual utterance of "Ah So" in an appalling Kato delivery. But if one can forgive these crimes, it is possible to get on with the very satisfying business of getting to the bottom of another crime, surrounded by food, drink, and friends. --Tony Mason
From the Manufacturer All games in the How To Host A Murder series begin with a murder and end with the unmasking of the culprit...but not before dinner, guessing, and lots of laughs. Your eight costumed guests assume the role of humorous charactersm and I do mean CHARACTERS! In each of four rounds, layers of a complex murder mystery are peeled away as you question every response. Each character has motive and opportunity to commit the crime. No one knows the murderer until the last minute of the party. How To... read more
